Verifying a FirstShift engagement
If a candidate has presented a FirstShift experience letter or certificate, this page explains what you can verify and how. Every FirstShift engagement is a real project for a real registered Indian firm, so it holds up to verification.
What you can verify
- The firm exists. The firm named on the experience letter is a real, registered Indian company with a real GSTIN. You can check the GSTIN on the GST portal.
- The engagement happened. The candidate completed a project for that firm. The firm team reviewed the work against a published rubric.
- The dates. The start and end dates on the letter are the dates of the engagement.
- The certificate is real. Each certificate has a unique ID and a public URL at firstshift.in/certificate/[id].
What the firm will confirm
If you call or email the firm on the letter, the firm will confirm that the candidate did a project for them, the dates of the engagement, and that the firm reviewed the work. This is a project engagement, not employment, and the firm will say so. The candidate was not an employee and was not paid a salary.
How to verify
- Check the firm name and GSTIN on the letter against the GST portal.
- Open the certificate URL printed on the letter to confirm it matches.
- Email the firm at the address on the letterhead to confirm the engagement.
- If you need more help, email us at support@firstshift.in with the candidate name and certificate ID.
Why this works. Certificate mills fall apart the moment an employer calls, because there is no real firm and no real work. FirstShift engagements are real projects with real registered firms, so verification is built in by design.
